Bubby SO totally deserves his own page on the Charlie loves Halifax website that I even gave him his own domain name - bubby.ca ! haha!  He is the cutest, funnest, cuddliest little dog you'll ever find in the Halifax Regional Municipality - so if you're out with your dog in any of the local parks and you see Bubby - make sure you bring your dog over to play - because he loves to play with other parks - he just doesn't like humans too much - so don't try to interact too much with him personally.

Bubby came from a puppy mill down in Cape Breton - which shall remain nameless  - but he went unsold for the first six months of his life - so he had absolutely no human contact - and therefore missed all his human imprinting periods that are SO important - and even more than important - absolutely necessary for puppies to have in order to turn out to be normal, well socialized adult dogs.

It's so sad - because he is the dog who had followed Charlie on this website - and the motto of this website is - if you have a well socialized, well trained dog and the dog could handle it - you can take them just about anywhere - and poor Bubby is NOT that - I cannot take him shopping with me like I could Buttercup and Charlie - so a lot of the stuff I talk about on this website - I can't do myself at the moment.

I am really hoping that with unconditional love, solid - purely positive training - I'll be able to help Bubby feel comfortable enough in public places that he won't feel terrified and over-aroused so much that he feels like he has to growl at other humans and lunge at him - but right now (October, 2011) - he is not in that place.

He is however - almost completely perfect in every other way - the way he plays with other dogs is wonderful to watch - and the way he's brought Buttercup out of her shell - at 17 years old, so that she's the healthiest she's been in years - is awesome.

He's a great dog and I feel like I've been given a beautiful gift - but he is definitely a good spokesdog for what comes out of puppy mills - very imperfect dogs!

If you get a good, well socialized, happy, healthy dog - you are getting an exception - not the rule.

And no - I did not get Bubby directly from the puppy mill - I got him from a local fantastic rescue - Atlantic Small Dog Rescue - who rescued him from a campground in Truro, where he'd been dumped at 7 months old because of the horrible behavioural issues he'd already developed because of the time that he'd spents at his puppy mill in the first 6 months of his life.

I plan on having Bubby for the next 20 years or so - so he is going to be the spokesdog for this website one way or the other - whether he likes it or not - and this site includes taking your dog shopping with you - so I've got a lot of work to do - hopefully Bubby eventually will start to play along!!
